To align safety and productivity, consider implementing safety-driven performance metrics. These metrics measure both safety compliance and efficiency together, ensuring that safety is integrated into performance goals rather than viewed as a barrier. This approach is valuable because it demonstrates that safety enhances productivity by reducing downtime from accidents and improving overall workflow. In workplace safety, safety-driven metrics create a culture where employees understand that being efficient doesn’t mean cutting corners but working smarter and safer. By aligning these goals, you ensure sustained performance and a safer, more productive work environment.

I believe that the construction of this question, in itself, brings a bias towards Traditional Safety, which generally views Safety as separate from the Business. In reality, this is not the case; the Safety goals are the same as those of the Business. When we treat Safety as a Business Partner, help to avoid costs and improve the sustainability and resilience of the Business, which are also its goals. Through modern practices such as HOP - Human and Organizational Performance and DfS - Design for Safety, we fully integrate Security into the Business.

It is not conflicting goals , it is complementary. You cannot have good productivity without safety. Safety is the prerequisite of any other topic such as productivity, quality, cost, reduction.

Engaging with employees and building trust is essential to working safely and efficiently. There needs to be understanding and trust between you and the employees and that they will tell you when things are wrong and when a process works well. Safety also needs to be synonymous with the works process and as easy as possible to follow. Simplify to Amplify.

All other efforts are moot...
