Leading by example with a strong work ethic and healthy work-life balance, providing necessary resources, removing barriers, and celebrating successes are also key. Adaptability and flexibility in plans and deadlines support the team’s needs. Promoting a positive, inclusive work environment and implementing well-being initiatives ensures a motivated, productive, and cohesive team.

My team was once working on a complex technical issue that gained a lot of visibility. Stakeholders across the board were asking for updates on how we were doing, which was diverting the team’s attention from actually fixing the problem. My message to the team was: Focus on solving the problem and leave the reporting to me. If anything approaches you for anything else, you divert them to me. We will checkin every 30 minutes. If you need anything, please let me know. As I shielded my team from all other activities and let them focus solely on the job at hand, they were able to address the issue quickly. Removing roadblocks and distractions can be as effective as enabling people. That in turn reduces their stress and excess workload

Wanted to explain the same with a case study that how A Servant Leader should be in Action. Imagine a project manager who notices increasing signs of stress among their team. Instead of solely focusing on meeting the deadline, they initiate open conversations, offer flexible work arrangements, and provide additional resources. They also prioritize team building activities and encourage work-life balance. As a result, the team feels supported and motivated, leading to improved productivity and project outcomes.
