Using PBR (physically based rendering) is a good starting point as well as newer technologies like polygon streaming to only load the polygons that the user can see while hiding all those they are inside the model or on the back which is obstructed. This can ensure that models are well lit with realistic textures and materials while also being high poly enough without affecting performance for smooth playback ideally around 60 fps.
