You've migrated data, but how do you guarantee its integrity and accuracy to avoid disruptions?
Post-migration, the real work begins to ensure data integrity and accuracy. To navigate this challenge:
- Conduct thorough data validation checks to compare source and target systems for discrepancies.
- Implement a robust data governance framework to maintain data quality standards consistently.
- Use automated monitoring tools to track data quality and receive alerts for any anomalies.
What strategies do you employ to maintain the integrity of your migrated data?

Ensuring data integrity during migration is crucial. Key practices include: 1. Pre-Migration Assessment: Audit data for inconsistencies. 2. Data Mapping: Create a clear mapping plan for accurate data transfer. 3. Validation Rules: Apply checks throughout the process. 4. Incremental Migration: Transfer data in smaller batches for easier monitoring. 5. Post-Migration Testing: Verify data accuracy and completeness. 6. Backup Plans: Maintain backups and rollback strategies. 7. User Involvement: Engage end-users in testing. 8. Documentation: Keep detailed records of the process. 9. Ongoing Monitoring: Conduct regular audits. 10. Training: Inform and train stakeholders. Following these can enhance trust in data management.

Before you migrate the database, we need to have the database copy made to review and check if all the data validations are working correctly or not. Mostly this would be for new validations and not for pre-existing one but we do need to check on the same and make sure they work properly. Also we need to make sure that any anomalies which have been found are fixed in the correct manner. Keep looking for anomalies post migration as well to make sure all the edit checks are properly working as well.
