You’ve just finished an internship. How can you use this experience to build a successful career?

El análisis respecto de una pasantía no es muy diferente del que se puede hacer con cualquier otra experiencia laboral. Analizar las tareas realizadas, herramientas utilizadas, la importancia de nuestro rol en el sistema que representa el equipo, son solo algunas de las cosas que podemos considerar. Pero no menos importante es tener en cuenta nuestro aprendizaje a nivel "soft", en lo que refiere al trato con nuestros compa?eros de equipo, a la capacidad de organizar prioridades, al trato con el cliente (interno - externo, si los hubiera), etc.

Treat your internship as a treasure trove of learning experiences. Beyond just listing tasks on your resume, reflect on the skills you've acquired, the challenges you've overcome, and the insights you've gained about the industry. Then, leverage this self-assessment to craft a narrative of growth and adaptability. Rather than merely stating what you did, emphasize how each task contributed to your development. This approach not only showcases your abilities but also demonstrates your capacity for self-awareness and improvement, setting you apart in future job interviews and career advancement opportunities.

I believe this is a golden chance to practice what I have learned and experienced during the internship. Both areas : Professional and Personal. Professional: apply the learning techniques whenever possible. eg. Graphic Designer. I can practice my learning my creating unique designs and explore what new in market. create special designs for the next employer to show my abilities, creativity skills for best hiring chances. Personal: learn and apply the work ethics and building good relations with others.

Learn to describe your best quantifiable success, and tell that story with positivity, an internal locus of control, and an authentic interest in the work. As it happens, the best research (in my opinion) on predictive hiring confirms that these four attributes best predict performance. That research is done by my friend @AdamRobinson at @Hireology. Internships are a great way to establish good connections! We can literally communicate and learn from everyone. It's important to be kind and proactive because the impression we create will be noted and taken into consideration. We should treat with respect everyone. It's the perfect time to realize that we work with people, not only experts and managers. And the more we are open as an individuals, the more we can earn as such. Moreover the chance to meet our "rocket man" is enormous! So keep your eyes wide open and smile!

Instead of passively collecting business cards, focus on building meaningful connections that go beyond professional transactions. Take the time to understand each person's journey, interests, and expertise. Offer genuine support and seek opportunities to collaborate or learn from them. Consider organizing a post-internship gathering where you invite colleagues, mentors, and supervisors to celebrate your collective achievements. By fostering authentic relationships, you're not only expanding your professional network but also cultivating a community of support and mentorship that can propel your career forward.

While technical skills are crucial, mentorship plays a vital role in accelerating your professional growth. Here's how to leverage your network to find a mentor: 1. Reflect on Your Experience: 2. Opportunities are everywhere! You just need to be open. If you want to do something new - try it out. But if you prefer to excel in a particular field, then do a extensive research. You have plenty of options and most companies are pretty solid with their policies for fresh interns and mark the job offers as relevant for candidates with less or none experience. You need to be clear - do you want a hybrid or an on-site role, do you want to start off with full-time or part-time job, would you prefer a standard working week or a flexible one. The more you are aware with your preferences, the more your vision will crystalise and you will be able to recognise the best opportunity for you.

Continue to learn is what I would say, the best way to end an internship. The end of an internship doesn't signal the end of your learning phase. Even well-seasoned professionals have a lot to learn on a daily basis. Use the knowledge and experience you gained during your internship and apply it in real life. Do not just stop at that, continue to network, research new topics and look for better ways to grow in your career.

One of the most important lessons that I have learnt was from my mentor during my internship. And it is to always learn. And don't understand learning as reading books or attending courses. You can always learn to be kinder, to speak to strangers, grow a plant, or even sleep in a better way. Learning connects you with more people and gives you opportunities to re-discover yourself. Be grateful for your everyday lessons, be patient and don't compare yourself with other. Every little step is a progress! And you must realise that all efforts will return in a positive way! And last but not least - enjoy the process of learning. Be curious and passionate, and it will bring you pleasure and satisfaction!
