You’ve been given a mentorship opportunity in IT Strategy. What should you do to maximize it?

As a mentor into IT strategy landscape steps to define my 6 month plan with mentee would be:- 1. Define the industry a person worked the most & interest to excel 2. Educate with overall Industry 4.0 know how & IT landscape with Digital Era 3. Picturize overall positioning with industry, function or any specific domain if want to excel 4. Define mentee's SWOT analysis around the industry & function. 5. Define Power skill to add to skill gap analysis beyond technical or functional skills 6. Create a roadmap from Vision to Strategy to Goal/s, Milestones and action plans. Daily journal to follow. 7. Monitor clarity, strengths, actions and outcome with regular feedback and expectations to nurture the cycle to run independently post 6 months.

Think about the mentorship, research about the mentor, and ensure you have a clear goals/objective of what do you want to accomplish from this mentorship. Communicate to your mentor about your objectives in advance and be honest. Getting the initial alignment between the mentor and mentee is a key for the success of this relationship..

To deepen the mentor relationship have regular scheduled connects, and the conversations should go beyond professional and career-related matters to personal, family, and other topics of interest. A true mentor will be genuinely interested in your growth and celebrating your milestones, big and small.

Majority of think mentorship is between one mentor and one protege. While in a traditional sense, it is true. However, you can be a different type of mentor. For example, teach a course to others and use teaching as a method of mentoring. This blend is very useful and refreshing. Also, it impacts more individuals than just one.
