Einstein is quoted as having said that if he had one hour to save the world he would spend fifty-five minutes defining the problem and only five minutes finding the solution. so basically we have to find out solutions using different ways to proceed further in lean manufacturing.

Define problems always it's needed,without it we can't work on real problems & also can't find the real root cause.so problem statement is much needed in every project.

There are many possible data sources, such as surveys, interviews, experiments, observations, reports, databases, websites, publications, and so on. However, not all of them are suitable or reliable for your problem-solving purpose. You need to assess the quality, relevance, timeliness, and credibility of your data sources.

Sind die auftretenden Probleme oder Verschwendung bekannt, braucht es ein einfaches System, mit dem die Probleme strukturiert erfasst werden. Von analogem Aufschreiben halte ich wenig, da Daten doppelt erfasst, oder zumindest sp?ter übertragen werden müssen. Deswegen setze ich auf anwenderfreundliche Softwarel?sungen, die mit Smartphone, Tablet oder Desktop-PC genutzt werden k?nnen.

For good quality data analytics, requirement is good quality data. Too often we experience GIGO. Actionables including making sure data is collected from the perspective of end in mind. And stakeholders collecting the data need to be empowered and engaged on why data is being collected the way it is. Then comes the application of appropriate tools. Best would be to integrate data collection methods with tools itself. This will make sure that end objective is not to be consumed by analysis paralysis. Last but not the least feedback loop is extremely important to sustain a good quality analytics process.

Smaller job shops, should enable culture and standardized practice of low-cost data collection methods such as manual data entry, spreadsheets, or simple data logging tools to capture relevant information about job orders, production times, and quality metrics. Provide training and incentives for employees who participate in these activities beyond the routine tasks.

Once data sources are identified, collecting and organizing the data in a structured manner is critical. This includes categorizing data into relevant metrics, formats, and timeframes to facilitate analysis. Organizing data involves ensuring that you can find your data and other research materials (including documentation, code, and physical samples) when you need to, and ensuring that data and materials that go together are connected in a meaningful way. --You should document your file naming and structuring schemes. Such documentation may take the form of a data dictionary or ReadMe file and should enable somebody other than you to understand how your research materials are organized. --The size and content of your data will determine the degree of flexibility you have about keeping it organized. It is very likely that your organizational scheme will not be perfect. There may be times when you’ll need to rearrange your files.
