1 Choose the right survey type

When collecting feedback from customers, you can use different types of surveys depending on your goals. For instance, the Net Promoter Score (NPS) survey helps you assess customer loyalty by asking them how likely they are to recommend your product or service to others on a scale of 0 to 10. The Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) survey evaluates customer satisfaction by asking how satisfied they are with a specific aspect of your product or service. Identify bottlenecks ??Prioritise new features ??Implement improvements ? 2 Ask the right questions

The quality of your survey questions can make or break your customer satisfaction survey software. To ask the right questions, you should ensure they are short, clear, and simple. Avoid jargon and ambiguity, and use plain language that your customers can easily understand and answer. Additionally, make sure the questions are relevant and specific to your customers’ needs and expectations. Furthermore, ensure the questions are unbiased and neutral. Avoid leading, loaded, or suggestive questions that can influence or skew your customers' responses. Instead, ask objective and balanced questions to allow your customers to express their honest opinions.

Remember: there is only two things we NEED to know. How loyal/satisfied the customer is and why. The rest is nice to know. Therefore: keep it short. For every extra question you would like to add, ask yourself if it is really necessary and in which ways it adds value to both sender and receiver.

3 Segment and target your customers

Not all customers are the same, so to get the most out of your customer satisfaction survey software, it's important to segment and target them based on criteria such as demographics, behavior, and feedback. For example, you can segment customers by age, gender, location, income, education, purchase frequency, spending amount, product usage, loyalty status, NPS score, CSAT score, CES score and open-ended comments. This way you can tailor your surveys to their specific needs and interests and increase response rate and quality.

5 Analyze and act on your feedback

The final and most important step of using customer satisfaction survey software is to analyze and act on your feedback. To do this, you can visualize and report your data using charts, graphs, dashboards, or reports to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Additionally, you can use filters, groups, or benchmarks to segment and compare your data by different criteria in order to uncover insights, patterns, and differences among customers and segments. Finally, you can use action plans, tasks, or goals to implement and measure your actions based on your data. By doing this, you can demonstrate to customers that their opinions are valued and you are devoted to satisfying their needs and expectations.

It's not enough to just ask for feedback or to listen to customers wherever they prefer to provide feedback. The most critical part of ensuring customers are satisfied is to do something with what you hear. Most survey software today has the tools you need to close the loop with customers in a service recovery manner. But the software also has the tools to identify and prioritize actions based on what's important to customers. Don't stop there. Do something. Make improvements. Train employees on the new experience to be delivered. Inform customers about the new experience in order to reset expectations.
