As a veteran in software engineering, I fully endorse this perspective. Adopting technology goes beyond just utilizing new tools. It necessitates a firm understanding of its underlying principles to effectively apply it. This foundation allows for a more prudent and efficient use of technology, minimizing problems and maximizing positive outcomes.

Algorithm is just human thinking written in plane text. Technology helps us run it faster. There is no other way to say this. If you can't do it manually, the technology can't do it either, no matter which technology you use it. Algorithm and technology to run the algorithm are two different things.

The Algorithms series of books by professor Robert Sedgewick are my favourite. There are almost too many online resources these days, so just pick your favourite one and practice in the language of your choice, just to get a feel for it. After that, build real world applications! There is no tutorial or online judge or anything that can teach you better than actually building something on your own and testing it out by yourself, just on a very small scale, on a cheap cloud server somewhere.

It would be nice if you have the capability to use varied sets of algorithms and evaluate which is better. But sometimes, the ability to see what resources or computing requirements are needed to execute a specific algorithm is often not considered. At first the algorithm solves the problem, but after a couple of years slows down the whole system and eventually needs an overhaul to the software process. Consider the effect of using an algorithm and its future impact to the system, which is not available as of the moment.

When adding new technology to your algorithms, make sure to keep an eye on how it's doing and update regularly. Monitor its performance and how it works with your algorithms over time. Check for any updates or improvements related to the technology, as they can help fix issues or add better features. By staying on top of things, you ensure that the technology fits well with your algorithms and stays up-to-date, keeping everything running smoothly.
