You’re trying to build relationships with customers. What’s the best way to manage communication?

Whilst social media platforms and cold emails can be great tools for networking, I always find old-fashioned phone calls and F2F meetings as the best way to establish worthwhile relationships with clients.

I employ a combination of “old school” and “new school” processes. Nothing beats a phone call, or in-person meeting, to build lasting relationships with clients. Products and services are great but it’s critical to rise above being seen as a commodity by existing and prospective customers. If you can’t meet in person, consider a virtual meeting, employ and embrace technology to help bridge a physical distance. Do not jump in and try to sell a product, there will always be time for that. Building relationships, day in and day out is how you do it.

Definitely personal interactions are the best way. Online meetings, and phone calls are important, but nothing is as good as meeting in person.

Relationship building and retention should be treated with care, instead of a number. I believe it’s important to ask the customers for their communication preference. If your pool is relatively small, you may have the ability to write hand written notes, personally make phone calls, etc. When the number of customers increase, text messages, emails, and mailing templates may be considered to show appreciation. Keep track of your customers and communication through databases, excel spreadsheets, etc. You may also create timely reminders to create and send communication to keep in touch regularly. Without customers, our products and services are worthless. Let’s make it a point to appreciate those who invest in our organizations!

Not setting clear expectations is one of the biggest customer relationship killers. Here is a practical way to set expectations for projects: Create a roles & and responsibilities table. Create columns with the following titles: Your name/company, customer name/company, title of the task, goal of the task, due date, and notes. Fill this out with the anticipated steps and review this at every single meeting. Cross tasks off when they are complete. This helps hold everyone accountable and sets clear expectations.

Current clients: Video for current and inactive customers - record on phone for DMs, and I like to use bombbomb software for emails New clients: Voice notes and sharing relevant articles, blogs, courses, events, posts, visuals, changes in legal/law/compliance/trends for new customers) great to send via dm, relationships are for DMs - asking for a meeting should be done via email new clients - video can still be a strategy - (people are less likely to open a video from a stranger especially with a system that’s tracked- so sometimes I’ll link them to a post with a video or just dm them a 30 second video, no system) for emails videos, a system is fine (prefer to send one via dm non LinkedIn via software) usually include a video step 1/2

Open rates, click rates, and feedback scores are not good metrics of customer relations, those are sales metrics. You will know if you have a good relations with your customers if they: 1. Create a community around your product. 2. Keep coming back. 3. If you actually have a relationship with them, as you would a friend.

To track and measure customer relationship management effectively: Use KPIs, Implement customers feedback surveys, monitor customers interactions, use social media monitoring, employee feedback. Regularly reviewing and analyzing these metrics will help you make data-driven decisions, enhance customer relationships, and refine your CRM strategy over time.

El seguimiento, es la clave. Teniendo como base que tuviste una cita ya sea personal o por video, establece fechas para el seguimiento, no importa cunado te pida hacerlo, ese dia y esa hora, debes escribir o llamar. Al hacerlo si aun no tienes respuesta positiva, debes generar más interés, ello lo puedes hacer platicando sobre algún caso de éxito de tu producto, alguna novevdad o bien comentando sobre la satisfacción de algun cliente ya cerrado. No des seguimiento, solo por hacerlo, debe de ser conciso y preciso el porque del mismo, al menos asi me funciona

Follow-up and follow thru is the best strategy to the best of my knowledge as when we are closing the deals and getting clients and customers in the pipeline is just starting of our journey with them. 1. Keep your promises. If you’ve said you are going to call them at an agreed time. Stick to it. Even if you are still working on something for them keep them informed. 2. Working relationships should be 2 way. Agree your contact strategy 3. Checkin from time to time. Find out how they are doing and what’s going on in their world. Be genuine and truthful. It’s not all about sales. 4. Be there if they have questions and concerns. Guide support and help where you can by providing additional resources and information 5. By following up and following through, you can show your customers that you care, appreciate, and value them. Mutual respect. 6. Ask for feedback and if you need to be doing anything different or if they are satisfied.

Make them feel heard, valued beyond just the business they bring to the table. Building a connection takes time and needs trust. When you pursue, the customers feel like you want their business, and when you follow through; they start to trust. And then that is a relationship you can build on.

Here are tips to make sure you follow up on every item: 1. Do it immediately - this way you are less likely to forget 2. Put the follow-up in your task manager or your calendar as a reminder - this also helps you not forget

People want to work with and buy from people they like and trust. Instead of approaching sales meetings with the soul intent to close deals, try getting to know your customer on a more personal level. So set a goal for each meeting like, I want to learn something about their hobbies today or learn their coffee order for the next catch up. People will remember how you make them feel for years to come, they will forget what you were selling but they won’t forget that nice account manager who remembers their sons birthday. And you never know where these people might end up working in the future.

Its the time of 5th P in Marketing and Sales as well , Which is Personal Relationship. You need to be authentic and genuine to build this level of personal relationship. Values of company should also reflect in the way representative of the organisation deals with customer and it should be at personal level not only at product level or sales level.

Learn and remember their name. And then remember all the personal info they tell you. Bring that up in future conversations. I typically have an index card per person with all this info on it. It’s HUGE for building relationships.

I don′t think you can fake your interest in other people. If you are not genuinely interested to get to know them, don′t bother at all! Be curious, ask questions and use the information in a clever way when communicating later on. Deliver on your promises, always!

Keep 'Em Posted: Give updates on what's happening with their stuff. 6. Sort It Out: Fix problems pronto to keep them happy. 7. Tech it Out: Use tools to stay organized and on top of things. These steps will help you connect with customers like a pro!

First, communication isn't "managed" - So if you're going into a customer relationship with the expectation that you're managing the conversation you're starting off on the wrong foot. A conversation is the primary medium of building trust in a relationship. It is the vehicle thru which Competence, Credibility, Chemistry, and Character are established (GiANT). Don't sell yourself short. Have a real conversation with the goal of establishing a relationship. You might be surprised how influential you are when (if) you can be trusted.

I think it has to come natural. Just like in life, customer relationships can't be forced. There will be customers and contacts within a customer who just don't make it easy. Each one is different and has to be treated as such. Should you set clear expectations? Yes. Should you follow up? Yes. Should you track and measure? Yes. However, having a rigid list of check boxes is not something I've ever found to be useful in building relationships. The ultimate key is take each person and opportunity at face value and build with each interaction. If they are warm then get personal and if they are more cold then keep it business oriented. Do what you say are going to do and keep your word and that goes a long way.

Listen to the customer, Listen to the engineer, Listen to the case. For me its looking for the information, listening to the input of others and work out from that information. How to progress. I have made many successful fixes, progress by listening to the other side. It sounds a simple think to do but try to really listen, soak in the information and work on it.
