You're transitioning to a creative problem-solving career. How can you navigate this new path successfully?

What I have found helpful in transitioning to a creative problem-solving career is knowing our skills, passions, strengths and experiences and leveraging the skills to be successful outside our comfort zone when we are confronted by challenges and ensure that we understand the root cause so that we may learn from a setback/failure and formulate a solution that will help us mitigate the challenge in a better way next time. If we use innovative problem-solving, this will avoid burnouts or emotional situations hence soliciting feedback from clients to improve our skills is a must.

In my career, I am always looking to enhance my skills and performance. The most important thing is to stay connected with our purpose, which drives us to start and maintain hard work. New challenges push us to grow and keep us motivated. Nowadays it is very important for professionals to learn about emotional intelligence, as more and more companies are looking for people who know how to react in different situations in their work routine, such as solving difficult problems, managing multidisciplinary teams, delivering results and handling with our emotions and those of others.

I would work on sharpening my creative problem solving skills by conducting a self-assessment and focusing on areas for growth, aiming to become a more effective problem solver. I would also be committed to fostering a curious and open-minded approach, which I believe is essential for generating innovative solutions

In my experience, I've transitioned from the clinical world to academia. Although both settings require creative problem-solving, the position requirements in each setting are distinct and diverse problems are presented. Stepping outside of my comfort zone, voicing my opinion to trusted colleagues, and seeing the positive outcomes builds confidence and inspires one to continue testing their boundaries. I believe its important to know, prior to starting a position that requires this skill, that challenges will be presented and solutions may not come as quickly as desired. Resilience in the face of adversity is necessary.

I am leveraging first my “why”, then my “how”, and that will reveal my “what”. My “why” is what drives my passion and belief in my life. My “how” is my natural strengths. Those two items will drive my next “what”, because it does not matter what I do for work as long as it aligned with my “why”. Lastly, leverage your network and other’s networks. Once you know your “why” by leveraging networks it will allow companies to design your “what”, which is your next job.

Acquiring knowledge is key to recognizing the problem. When you recognized it, if you have a clear mind, you can have ideas. Development of ideas, mind mapping, and brainstorming can lead to the right decision and a perfect plan. Meanwhile, study and learn about specific skills to improve your understanding of the problem. Communicate with other experts and stay tuned!

Developing your skills can significantly enhance your creative problem-solving abilities, opening doors to careers in this field. Begin by examining your current workplace. Identify areas where alternative thinking could address challenges or achieve goals. Expanding your skill set will foster fresh perspectives. Embrace learning something you're not proficient in. This process will cultivate focus, discipline, and the ability to overcome obstacles, essential components of creative problem-solving.

Target individuals who could give you access to advice, fresh ideas, and potential opportunities you might not have found on your own. Make contact and then employ active listening. En alguna ocasión un agente de seguros con una amplia trayectoria, me comento cuando recien inicaba mi caminar laboral. "Como me gustaria que usted tuviera mis conocimientos o que yo tuviera su edad" frase que en su momento no entendí la importancia de su significado, pero con el acontecer de los a?os tomo un valor importante para mi. Regular self-reflection is essential for growth. In a creative problem-solving role, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution, and each project can present a new set of variables. That’s why I plan to make reflection a routine practice. After each project, I will take the time to assess what went well, what could be improved, and what unexpected lessons arose. This process of continuous learning allows me to fine-tune my problem-solving methods, ensuring that I’m not only improving my skills but also adapting to the unique challenges of each situation. Reflection will serve as a checkpoint to evaluate progress and recalibrate my approach when needed.

Self-reflection and course correction is important for any new career transition. It is important that we zero in accurately on our internal strengths and areas of development so that we can up-skill as may be needed to be better equipped to take on new challenges effectively. Reflecting upon our skills, passions, and experiences as to what in creative problem-solving excites us the most and why we have chosen this career path. If we list our current skills and identify areas for improvement or new skills to acquire, this helps set clear goals to meet the targets that will help us accomplish success in our career.

To become more knowledgeable it is important to become self reflective in practice. Growth is important when creativly problem solving.It is important to recieve critical feedback.

You aren’t going to know everything at first, and it may seem overwhelming. Through consistent learning and skill building, the problem solving is going to come much easier but only after you accept that it will take time. Constant reflection allows you to reevaluate your goals and target the growth you wish to see in yourself. Move with change and be open to feedback, your personal growth will eventually lead to organizational growth.

What I would recommend is that we need to look at ways to challenge the status quo, ask questions and be open to adapting to changing requirements. It is important that we stay curious and are open to course-correction when hitting a roadblock hence adopting flexibility with an innovative outlook leads to discovering alternate methods. Putting mind maps and storyboards to use helps visualizing the bigger picture and identifying creative solutions as the best ideas come from team members with diverse perspectives. Collaboration through curiosity helps spark creativity and more effective solutioning.

Getting started in a new role can be daunting. Staying curious and trusting yourself go hand in hand. You owe it to yourself to ask the questions; someone else, whether now or later, is guaranteed to be wondering the same thing. Challenge the status quo if it needs it. Processes often need fresh eyes to be improved on. Lastly, and most significantly for me, is be ok being uncomfortable in the beginning. Your brain is working hard making connections and it affects your body and mind. It will eventually settle and pass.

We need to be more curious and desirous to stay alert and active with the teams involved. We need to actively involve and engage each member in the continuing discussion for creative solutions thus reliable troubleshooting becomes a regular habit.

Resilience is paramount when transitioning to a creative problem-solving career. Challenging the status quo inevitably leads to obstacles. Rejection from suitable roles and misunderstanding from those unfamiliar with creative problem-solving careers are common. Finding the right fit may require extensive searching or even self-creation. The journey can be arduous and perplexing, but persistence is key. Your resilience will fuel your progress and ultimately lead to success.

This variable is fundamental for creative processes, because in many occasions a stagnation may occur or a path may have been chosen that perhaps was not the right one. Starting over or getting up after a mistake is vital in creativity.

Resilience can look like many things. Know your worth and maintain your intentions, and you’ll be navigated to a resilient path in the face of any obstacle. Onboarding is a process, one we cannot rush, despite our intentions. Just keep swimming :)
