To speed up geological surveys without compromising accuracy, leveraging advanced technologies is key. Drones equipped with LiDAR and photogrammetry provide rapid, high-resolution aerial data collection. Remote sensing tools, like satellites and UAVs, offer real-time insights for large-scale surveys. Geophysical techniques, such as ground-penetrating radar (GPR) and seismic surveys, allow for quick subsurface mapping. Additionally, AI and machine learning can automate data processing, identifying patterns and anomalies faster. Combining these tools enables efficient, precise surveys with reduced fieldwork time and enhanced decision-making.

Step back first. What do you need for the project? Clearly define the goal and product required or data or statists needed. 1. If, when, how, do we digitize what? 2. How do we integrate this into active model and future research? 3. how does this assist in achieving the goal defined before we start?.. Or, simply put; start by knowing what you want to achieve and learn. Then aim for relevant data aquisition. Avoid blowing the budget on fancy whiz-bang that leads to nothing. Get what you are looking for and don't waste time and money on pig lipstick.

The accelerated geological surveys with more reliable datasets are the need of hour for exploration. As an explorer, I strongly believe that objective based state of art tools/techniques, proper planning/strategy, skilled & experienced professionals will be helpful in achieving more accurate datasets in minimum possible time and in cost effective manner. The balance of latest tools, skilled manpower, effective execution strategy considering the geographical, surface , weather, socio-cultural conditions of area of survey and consistent project monitoring with corrective measures are key of acquiring best possible quality data in shortest possible timeframe.

High-Resolution Imagery: Use LiDAR, hyperspectral imaging, and multispectral data for surface analysis. Automated Classification: algorithms to classify rock types, detect faults, and map structures. Real-Time Monitoring: Use drones with ground-penetrating radar (GPR) for localized surveys.

Portable XRF insutu meters are a lovely tool to help as well. All of these need to be done in conjunction with your handheld GPS. We now even have apps on phones and tablets that could also help in terms of mapping and storing data on one device. This makes for easy transfer and management of data which also helps to speed up processes.
