Knowledge is not only a powerful skill but also a confidence booster. Preparation is key. An executive strategy session is a platform where executives showcase their brilliance, strenghts, views and experiences. First of all, I will organize my thoughts in readiness for the opportunity to share my views at the strategy session. I will speak with boldness and conviction. I will be open to learn from others as well. I will ask questions to get clarification. Fear is a negative emotion which can be conquered by intentonally seeking knowledge and also by constantly practising public speaking sessions with peers and associates. This experience gained from informal exchanges will become useful during crucial executive sessions.

I once had a mentor who said you can never be too prepared. The fear of failure and inadequacy quickly dissipates once you bring your best self to the table, augmented by the experience you bring to the fore. I remind myself often: You GOT THIS!
-
Well, I'd start with taking time to acknowledge my key strengths—whether it's my ability to facilitate productive conversations, strategic thinking, or leadership experience. Practicing mindfulness or positive affirmations before the session could help ground me and bring my focus back to my capabilities rather than my fears. Journaling moments of success or reflecting on how I’ve successfully navigated other high-pressure situations can serve as a reminder of my competence.
-
When I think about what others need the space in side my head for my own self-doubt quiets. The executive team needs space and time to think deeper; questions to challenge assumptions and build more clarity. Focus on what they need and how you can help. Utilise everything, if they seem stuck, if the discussion seems confused, if someone’s dominating, if tempers are heating or people seem disengaged- use this as data and share it in a way that makes the conversation even richer.
-
Here’s how to conquer those feelings of inadqueacy: 1. Own the discomfort—Acknowledge the nerves, but don’t let them control you. Everyone in that room has doubts too—they just hide them better. 2. Focus on the value you bring—You’re in this position for a reason. Instead of dwelling on what you lack, lean into your strengths and experience. They’re your anchor. 3. Shift from performance to presence—Stop worrying about how you’ll be perceived. Focus instead on being fully present and facilitating a productive session. You’re not there to prove yourself—you’re there to lead with clarity.
