Internal training materials hold great importance as they are meant for your biggest brand ambassadors. While you can create the most stunning collaterals, PPT, videos etc., for the message to resonate with your internal audience, it's important to connect. Take the example of company values, one of the most important aspects for any organization to succeed. In one of the organizations, i worked with the HR team to drive awareness & adoption of the core company values. For this, we created teams from different departments to demonstrate the values and their importance with short skits. Humor along with real examples helped capture the essence of the values. For any form of learning to be effective, the key is making it subtle and fun!.

Two things that we have added to our internal training that has helped increase the impact are: 1) increasing engagement by asking questions of the audience and allowing them to share experiences; and 2) asking the trainees to anonymously rate the trainer and the materials at the end of the session on a variety of characteristics so that we can continuously improve.

Before creating any internal training, you need to understand what problem we are solving. Further: 1. it is necessary to understand what metrics to measure the current level of people's knowledge. 2. based on the results of the measurements, develop training that will improve the existing problems 3. conduct training 4. repeat the measurement based on the results 5. adjust the program as needed

Gamification is one way to keep teams engaged in training, such as a "choose your own adventure" type of module where it has the added value of giving users a choice in how they learn. As someone else mentioned the "prizes" they earn in these "games" can keep them engaged as well as it sparks friendly competition. In digital training environments using interactive modules helps, along with traditional elements like quizzes to ensure they are tracking. Tailoring to each teams' level is important as well as if users feel the training isn't relevant to their job they will quickly tune out.
