To reignite creativity in a brainstorming session with a deadline, try changing the environment—whether it's moving to a different room or rearranging the current space—to spark fresh ideas. Additionally, take a short break to clear your mind, or use creative prompts and exercises like mind mapping or role reversal to encourage new perspectives.

When I'm stuck in a brainstorming session with a looming deadline, I step away for a few minutes to clear my head—maybe a quick walk or scroll through some social media for inspiration. I also break the problem into smaller parts and ask "what if" questions. Collaborating with my team for fresh ideas helps me refocus and reignite creativity.

1. Get outside. No phones, no computers. Just a change in location and away from where you do you work can ignite fresh ideas. 2. If you drink, head to a bar and have a beer. A couple sips can flip your brain from work mode to creative mode. 3. Take a shower. This gets complicated in a team environment, but I find that my best ideas are written on soggy papers.

To reignite creativity, take 15-20 minutes to brainstorm the worst possible ideas. It’s fun, breaks the mental block, and often sparks fresh thinking. Afterward, you can even revisit those bad ideas and reverse-engineer them into practical solutions, boosting creative flow just in time for the deadline.

It’s a problem only good leadership can solve. Mind blocks happen when the brief is overwhelmingly generic and not sharply defined. They also occur when the team is pulling in different directions. Sometimes it could be the result of fatigue or work overload. Distill the brief into one sentence or phrase to kickstart thinking. Spark ideation techniques. Float initial thoughts and provoke responses. Cut out all other distractions and get the team fully focused. Remove the deadline for a while from the equation (most often, that freedom will result in meeting it). Never settle for less, even though there is a time crunch. Manage client expectations. Be vocal about - and nurture - great concepts produced. Show solidarity but demand quality.
