Today, after 34-years with Devcon, we celebrate Peter Copriviza’s retirement!
Peter first joined us in 1990 as Devcon’s 13th Project Manager, back when beepers and Excel were new technology and his first child, AJ, was just 4 months old. To say that Peter will leave a legacy behind is an understatement.
Throughout his tenure, Peter has worked on over 500 projects, including 43 buildings for Cisco. Among his favorites are The Intercontinental at Monterey and Avaya Stadium.
Peter allows his team members the freedom to lead projects while always being there to handle sticky situations. Peter’s door is always open to offer advice on work or, just as commonly, life. His calm demeanor and unwavering positive attitude have made him a beloved coworker and respected manager.
At company events, you’d be hard-pressed to find Peter without a Coors Light (or two) in his hand. Whether on the dance floor or the golf course, Peter and his wife Jackie are the life of every party. Legend has it Peter once performed a front flip on his way to accept the first-place trophy at our company trip golf tournament…
Peter’s impact on the construction industry is significant, and his passion for his work is evident in his family, as his two sons and son-in-law have followed in his footsteps, becoming part of the Devcon family as well. One of Peter’s fondest memories is filling a table with his family members at the company Christmas party—a rewarding moment for a proud father.
The office won’t be the same without Peter’s signature walk, shit eating grin, and contagious energy. While he will be greatly missed, we wish him all the best in his well-earned retirement. Peter looks forward to sleeping past 4 a.m., spending time with his five (and counting) grandkids, traveling, and trying to keep up with his wife on the golf course.
Peter, your mark on this company is indelible. Your legacy lives on in the buildings you built, the company trip stories that can’t be repeated here, and the passion for the industry you’ve passed on to the next generation. May you find even more success and happiness in retirement than you did in your time at Devcon. Happy trails ahead, friend.
