Utilize Telehealth Services: Implementing telehealth can help alleviate some of the pressure on healthcare facilities by allowing providers to offer remote consultations. This not only expands access to care but also reduces the physical burden on staff by managing follow-up visits and chronic disease management remotely. Flexible Scheduling: Offering flexible work arrangements, such as part-time positions and job-sharing, can accommodate diverse staff needs. This flexibility can improve job satisfaction and retention rates, helping to mitigate burnout among healthcare workers.

We need to DEMAND that all employed registered nurses in a hospital setting are EXPECTED to work a bedside shift assignment at least once a quarter. We do not have a nursing shortage! We have a nursing crisis! Over 1 million nurse refuse to use their license and work as a nurse.. Of the over 4 million nurses working, the majority of nurses never take care of a patient load! Case managers, Unit Managers, Directors, Nurse Executives, Quality managers, Nurse Educators! Every single nurse in an organization will grow and benefit from a shift on the unit. It would change eclvery unit! It would change the next leadership meeting! It would impact the next board meeting! It might change staffing grids?

Today, the staffing crisis is not only persistent but intentional, manufactured as a cost-saving measure by the corporate healthcare industry. By reducing payroll expenses, these corporations improve their budgets at the expense of patient and staff safety. Despite this, nurses still have avenues to report unsafe work conditions. One effective route is reporting to the State Department of Health, which then involves CMS. For example, when I reported unsafe conditions in an ER, the state responded the very next day with a survey, which led to sanctions. The hospital was issued a corrective action plan, including hiring more nurses to meet safe staffing levels, which they accomplished within weeks.

Current staffing shortages are a symptom of a great problem known as the nursing crisis. The nursing crisis is the result of years of leadership members gaslighting direct patient care with impossible standards that no one can meet. The fact is that over 1 million nurses, with active licenses refuse to work as a result of the abusive leadership found in profit over patient hospital settings. As a result of these practices direct patient care staff are calling on all nurses working in a hospital system to step up and begin working at least once a quarter in a bedside, direct care assignment. We are specifically requesting that leaders from unit managers, directors, Vice Presidents and even board members take a patient assessment.
