I personally don't use my cell phone for client communication. I use Slack because I can control the hours that notifications are sent to me. I also don't check my email on evenings and weekends. I also don't set an expectation that I will respond immediately.

I am not a great believer in work life balance! Work and family needs change constantly and I don’t beat myself up if they aren’t always in balance. Keeping professional boundaries however will ensure that your own time remains that - your own time! I seldom find clients who don’t respect that.

Hi Connections.... I am not a favour of the concept of work-life balance. It was introduced after people began working for money with no passion for it. I haven't heard this from any entrepreneur. However, it is important that we make time to spend with those we care about... family and friends. Quality of time is critical. Some of the major aspects 1. Long drive. 2. Turn off mobile phones. 3. Dining out 4. Shopping 5. Movies, etc., will improve the quality of your connection... It's almost as if you're giving your all, whether at home or at work.

We can develop a healthy relationship with clients by establishing emotional boundaries. To serve with excellence and respect, I use a few strategies like: - I avoid sharing my mobile number or chatting informally - I schedule meetings in advance and changes and add a cancellation fee to discourage last minute cancellations. - I take permission before asking sensitive questions or making challenging remarks, to respect the client emotions. My behaviour sets the tone for the relationship. - I am ok saying No to requests. - I am approachable and personable, not informal. That keeps the relationship professional. - most importantly, I communicate expectations clearly in the beginning, to prevent surprises and disappointments.
