I struggled a lot as an application developer on how to enhance my problem solving skills. There are a number of approachs on how to become better at problem solving, but my number one favorite is to read programming code. Not documentation, not a stack overflow post with human language, but only pure, unadultered programming code, preferably without comments. By reading raw programming code and trying to understand what the developer was trying to achieve, you will replicate in your head almost the exact same thought processes as the developer when first coding the application. You will develop the same neural pathways as the developer, so the better the code, the better will be your result.
