A collaborative work environment is a workspace that supports employees and professionals in their individual and group work. This could describe the tools, physical design or the culture in a workplace that encourages collaboration amongst individuals. With this, team members in a workplace can work together, share ideas, communicate and achieve common objectives. # Be honest. # Work to eliminate conflicts of interests. # Avoid talking behind each other's back. # Trust teammates (you must trust them before they will trust you). # Give team members the benefit of the doubt.

To identify the communication gap and set expectations from each one of the team members. Make the team responsible for the work and accountable to achieve set organizational goals. Work closely with team to clear up misunderstanding quickly and accurately, also recognize the team efforts.

People come to work for one reason, and it is to make their career. In this process, they bond with other coworkers either because they may be of some help to achieve their career progression or because they naturally feel connected to form a friendship. This is what happens classically in the absence of proper leadership. As a leader, one needs to bring in the third element, which is to get the people to come together, bond, and find a common mission and ambition to achieve the organizational goal. One way of doing this is to help them envision how collaborating with coworkers by trusting and bonding helps to achieve the mission, and how in turn it helps them fulfil their fundamental goal, which is to advance their career.

Circle time is one initiative we do in our team. We sit in a circle and celebrate each others wins over a period of time (say last month). It encourages people to open up and share their wins small or big. Over a period of time it helps build a strong camaraderie.

The most important question to answer is - Why there is no trust & rapport in the team ? Reason for this is mostly because your "Team members are competing with each other to get that extra brownie points from their superior" So the most critical point which you need to make them understand is that "If the team fails, them everyone fails", no brownie points to anyone. Secondly , Leader needs to understand the strenghts of each Team member and assign a role which matches his/her strenghts. So only if everyone contributes as per their strenghts the team would WIN?? and everyone ends up respecting & trusting each other

I think this would be the most important pillar in promoting a collaborative environment !! Clear steps for me would be: - Building trust through encouraging open and honest communication among team members. - Acknowledging and celebrating both individual and team achievements to show appreciation for everyone's contributions. - Implement regular feedback sessions where team members can express concerns and suggestions constructively.

Generally, there is an expectation that the team will automatically work seamlessly together. Building rapport entails understanding at what stage of development your team is in thus allowing a leader yo apply the relevant leadership style to foster trust and build relationships resulting in cohesive, productive, equipoise and collaborative teams.

To my experience , everyone who is growing …is learning from others or from self .. the sense of taking and giving feedback in open environment lead to a fruitful discussion with right team sprit

When getting the most out of a team, I like to understand what areas each individual feels passionate/motivated about. Are you a creative? Do you like the executing? Does the analysis side bring you the most joy? etc. By getting this feedback before embarking on a project I can play on the strengths of each person. Should you be faced with multiple members wanting to focus on the same area, then it’s a matter of rotation on the next project so that everyone feels valued and energised. Having a regular pulse check is critical, and don’t be afraid to ask your team, is this working for you?

Communication is critical. Making sure that the common goals are communicated to the team as well as listening to the challenges the team has. Two way communication enables teams to ensure everyone is one the same page and aiming for the same goal. I would encourage everyone to communicate with each and use the communication channels to escalate any problems that they may have.

Maintain an open-door policy where team members feel comfortable approaching you with their ideas, suggestions, and concerns. Let them know that their input is valued and welcome. Establish formal and informal feedback mechanisms such as regular feedback sessions, suggestion boxes, surveys, or anonymous feedback channels. Encourage team members to share their thoughts on various aspects of work, projects, and processes. Pay attention to their perspectives, ask clarifying questions, and show empathy and understanding. Acknowledge their input and thank them for their contributions. Be specific, objective, and supportive in your feedback. Offer guidance and resources to help them grow and develop professionally.

Key to new learning and innovation is consequence management. If an associate tries new things and fails, how you handle the situation creates the environment for other associates to try new things. We need to provide space to associates to try new things and fail.

The struggle is for real when you have a team members from different backgrounds. As a leader we need to bring them together at the same level with goals alignment ,expectations setting clarity in most simple way and fuel it with proper training & inputs which are required to work in team . Above all setting up a review structure in a regular way will foster the culture of focusing on what is the need of an hour and how are we as a team faring for it . Last but not the least appreciation & rewards do add motivation.

I am a big believer in continuous training. I’m a fan of personal growth books and I have my team read one each quarter. We move slowly, but we do activities each week and that gives us an opportunity to build rapport while we discuss how to apply what we’ve read into our jobs or day to day lives. At the beginning of the year, I focus on remedial training and the basics of the jobs at hand. I like to build the foundation with the standard I expect from my team. We go over it together, and I utilize pop quiz tests, to give them muscle memory of how we execute.

In R&D, not all projects aim at immediate rewards. Some of the most innovative ideas look at things in a fundamentally different manner, application of which can be unknown. So, promotion of learning and innovation OUTSIDE of your immediate business competence can foster an innovative and resilient organisational culture. I once interviewed a Chief Innovation Officer of a bank - his team includes, UX expert, linguist, psychologist, among financial professionals. He intentionally have two offices in different part of the country to capture cultural differences of these cities. I asked him how it is going. He replied: 'we are still learning'.

Explaining the "Why" is the first and most important step in effective collaboration. If the team doesn't understand the "Why" they are unlikely to buy in. After they understand this, I would encourage asking the team how they affect the ability to execute the desired end result. From there, you guide them through the process of strategically planning their objectives and cascading key results down to their teams. The leader should know what their portion of the goal is and be able to effectively communicate the individual portions to those they lead. Consistent follow up on progress and sharing "best practices" amongst each other will ensure the overall objective is met.

If you want to see more of a certain behaviour, then increase it's visibility. Calling out a team member who has demonstrated it, shows what the business thinks "good looks like". We all want to be seen and any acknowledgment for something we've done, given to the whole organisation is a huge motivator. Far more than any tangible reward. Show that you've noticed.

Team members should be rewarded for their hard work and passion.. Encourage for their career growth. Need to Motivate for the future plans and vision.

Organize daily Scrums or 10 minutes huddles. Let the team talk and express their thoughts. Everyone will contribute at the conversation. People's managers should just facilitate this meetings.

Excellent contributions, I would add that PATIENCE is required. People take time to bond and trust motives. The leader must understand that you can't always rush team building. Give confidence: People want to be trusted to deliver, guide and show them but be quick and effusive with praise. If you can make corrections less painful and less personal
