Establishing an open line of communication is the first step to gaining parents' trust. Make yourself available through various channels, such as email, phone calls, or scheduled meetings. By actively listening to their concerns and being transparent about your teaching methods, you create a collaborative environment. Sharing your educational philosophy and how it benefits their children can help parents feel more connected and reassured about your approach. The goal is to foster a partnership where parents feel valued and heard.

Evidence, evidence, evidence! Parents want what is best for their kids and sometimes, they don't understand the importance of teaching practices. Teaching is a science and is backed by tons of research. Find research on the topic and have that as a first point of reference. You can preface the conversation by saying that I am not making this practice up, it has been used for years and has been proven effective, here is the research. From there, outline your process on how you incorporate the topic into your classroom. Show parents what they can expect to see. Show them success stories. Even show them complications and potential barriers. Being honest and open can build trust and communication.
