In our real life situations, a level headed mentality and awareness for the end goals, protecting departure times and ensuring passenger safety was paramount. I such circumstances, effective communication is only relevant when staff are proactive and understand the needs or consequences to the situation. Automated systems push notifications and mobile technology certainly contribute to a productive environment in ground handling but the most important part are the end users of such technology.

Yet it can also have the opposite effect. Most airport staff are trained specifically in one area. Some information is irrelevant to them and can hinder productivity. Therefore it is not wise, for example, the checkin staff to know about aircraft logistics and receive technical loading messages. Yet on the other hand, it is important for the checkin staff to know about gate activities. All in all, the cohesive approach must be limited.

I disagree with such automation as it does not factor human disruptions. We had many instances where we must follow protocol and adhere to guidelines in operating the ground handling, but there were also times where human manual decisions had to be made which contradicted the rules. A general rule of thumb applies here with experience. Depending on the end goal.

Data integration can also hinder operations. An Airport is always micro managed to prove effectiveness. Integrating too much data can be an issue, particularly between stations.
