How do you ensure your design decisions resonate with stakeholders?
-
-knowing and presenting real time data based research with visuals. -design peer group meetings with stakeholders to emphasize on focuseddesign content. -communication skills and confidence. -upper hand of one of the senior management for decision influences also helps .

This is one of the most challenging things to master as a designer. Two methods that have worked very well for me are; - Co-creation sessions where your invite your target group in the early design stages, ideally on the - Validate multiple design directions by inviting users to ‘playfully’ explore concepts and or prototypes By carefully observing your target groups and documenting behavior you might find the insights needed to create that killer design. *Beware of focusing on what they articulate as desires, oftentimes I found that what people say and what they actually do / desire are two different things.

To make user feedback resonate with stakeholders, turn insights into a story that connects with their goals. - Show how a simple change, driven by user input, directly boosts engagement or saves time. - Visuals are key: before-and-after mockups can speak louder than words. - Always frame feedback in business terms; for instance, rather than saying “Users find it confusing,” explain how it reduces friction or builds trust. This way, you bridge the gap between design empathy and business value.
-
As I ( should) know what each of the stakeholders interest and main concern, I will start a brief presentation targeting these concerns indirectly, then flip into the more details that enlight the design and the plan how to achieve the board satisfaction, it is not hiding any info, but organizing them on the table in front of the concerned board.

Design decisions should be based on the stakeholders best interest or concerns. The better the design the less explaining is needed... well sometimes.... there must be trust... and if the the solution is cutting edge and a bit beyond the grasp or imagination of the stakeholder that's when communication of the "story" is important to obtain the deserved trust... if they trust the user feedback you use that. If not there is a more important question to be asked about the relationship.
