If you're making optimization changes in production, you need to make small, atomic changes. Instead of pushing any of the PID values a full point (1 to 2, 10 to 20, etc) make quarter or half point changes (1 to 1.2, 10 to 12). And then sit and watch your equipment. Historize the data so you can view it graphically and more easily tell change over time. If the change was good, make another change and wait. If the change was bad, revert it and wait for system stability. If your window for change is small and requires the equipment to be temporarily offline, you are going to create a production upset unless you coordinate. The key to success is having a plan for whatever direction the change goes, good or bad.

To optimize productivity in industrial control systems, key strategies are essential. Automating repetitive tasks and eliminating redundancies save time and reduce errors, leading to a more efficient workflow. Integrating systems enhances operational efficiency through seamless communication. Real-time monitoring with data analytics and AI allows organizations to predict failures and conduct preventive maintenance, avoiding costly downtime. Standardizing processes ensures consistency, while ongoing employee training enables quick issue resolution. Cultivating a culture of continuous improvement fosters innovation, helping organizations adapt to changing demands. These strategies create a solid foundation for maximizing productivity.
