Below are the points to mentor juniors: - Encourage juniors to learn about specific domains and toolsets. - Provide detailed information about the domain or related tasks. - We should appreciate the juniors when they perform good jobs. - We need to provide feedback on a weekly/ monthly basis so that they can correct the mistake. - Provide the juniors with freedom so that they can give a better result than what we have expected.

- Understand their aspiration - Identify the gap in achieving the aspiration - Educate them about the unknowns which you feel they might not have considered. - Explain the skills that should be learnt to achieve the aspirational goal. - Identify their weak areas and help them with tools that can improve their skills in those areas. - Define measurable outcomes for tracking. - Track and tweak the mentorship program regularly.

Encourage curiosity and the pursuit of learning, even through mistakes. Provide constructive feedback that focuses on improvement and celebrate successes, no matter how small. Without giving general recommendations or any theoretical advice, from my own experience, the best method is to be a navigator in pair programming technique.

I don’t believe in role models. No two individuals are the same. As a mentor all you need to do is to “bootstrap” and initiate the spark of learning process. If at all provide your mentees with filtered learning resources to accelerate their learning process. Slowly initiate and guide them towards critical thinking. Most importantly, I do not share how I had done things. I give them scenarios and let them come up with approaches to solve the problem. I have found very few people who learn from other people’s mistakes. If I tell them all the time how to do things they would eventually take those words as gospel and in all probability would not think “why”. I guide them to first step (mvp) and let them finish it.

Leading by example is what I learnt from my coach . Working at the ground level actually encourages collaboration. Two-street criticism for both parties help to learn and grow. The mindset should be flexible to decide what coding good practices , problem solving techniques and industry standards works for the team.

In my experience, I get to mentor summer interns in my team. As a mentor I can make the most impact by Providing guidance, encouraging autonomy, sharing experiences , encouraging learning, creating a supportive environment and setting goals. Being a mentor was also beneficial for me as I got to learn new perspectives, learning leadership skills, enhancing communication skills, reinforcing knowledge. Overall, mentoring not only benefits the mentees but also the mentors .

I believe a key part of a mentor/mentee relationship is establishing a safe and trusting environment, where mistakes are welcomed and allowed without judgement -- with the understanding that these are teaching moments. That is the coaching part. The role model part: walk the walk, talk the talk, understand the talk, and stay humble. If you do your job right your mentee may someday be *your* mentor!

ask them what they want to do with the money. so that they realize that it's not enough to buy a house. look around the streets. see that house? someone owns it! not you. and you will never own one working as a programmer.

Listen & Challenge & Listen. (have to do more, because Linkedin doesn’t like short and to the point answers - please upgrade) Listen to where they are, mentally go to that level with your expertise, then challenge them to get the ball going - nobody likes ”experts” talking only about themselves.

By balancing celebration and support, you can build a nurturing mentoring relationship that empowers the development of your mentee.

I have found this helpful instead of directly answering ask them to think & just guide them on arriving the answers themselves instead of simply answering the answers. Developing a culture of curiosity also helps a lot.
