You're seeking new opportunities in late career. How can you leverage your network effectively?

This is a personal question, as I am on this very path. Being in my early 40's, and wanting to grow my No Code and AI literacy, I joined communities that are in line with where I want to go. I have also started a newsletter, to continue my knowledge base of this new version of me. That is showing my LinkedIn community, that these are my new career interests. Up skill yourself with online courses from LinkedIn to Coursera to YouTube. Start a portfolio to show others your new skills -even if you are a newbie, remember we all have to start somewhere. Reach out to as many people as you can in places where it makes sense to do so, from Discord to Twitter to Meet up etc. Just Keep Keeping on, and you will get there.

Rekindling ties is a great approach to leverage your network, you never know who may know who. Reach out genuinely though instead of appearing like the person who just reaches out when they need somthing.

Your current network is the best to share your new career with. Likely these are people who already know you and your values/skillsets. It is exciting to share something like a career change with your current network and they are usually more than happy to help you however they can (if you've been building your network well over time!) A career change is a great way to reconnect with old contacts. Be sure to ask how you can help them as well! Whether you are changing careers or not, make sure your profile is constantly updated and fresh. This will help you continue to build connections. As always provide value to others!

Every once in a while it's beneficial to update your profiles. You can alter previous experiences as well to cater to what you are looking for, sometimes it's simply changing some keywords. Profile photo needs to be up to date as well.

Find the posts are relate to the industry and position you are looking for, then interact with those posts frequently and consistently. Create your own posts as well with insight to bring value to the topic, that way you are remembered and seen as relative and knowledgeable.

Nothing better than attending events, especially in-person when you can. Find out who's going if that information is available and target who you would like to meet.

Reach out to previous customers, employers, co-workers, and referrals for endorsements. Endorse others as well. Don't be afraid to kindly ask for this support.
