I have 2 basic rules 1. There is song from Jagjit Sing ""?????? ?? ???? ?? ?? ???, ???????? ?? ?? ??? ?? ???" (When forming a friendship, it's wise to consider even the opinions of enemies). I use this even in business. In addition to a good research on supplier financial condition, production capabilities, quality and processes in place and current customer base, always try to get the feedback from your competitors securing supply from the supplier. 2. Check the man behind the Machines! Factories are run by humans, and if the Management is not having the right vision and attitude, no state of the machinery setup can fulfill your expectations.

I remember a valuable tip by one of my Manager in beginning of my career - "Never think about Quality of end product, just check Process, checkpoints and calibration". If these 3 things are in place, quality is guaranteed.

This "Continuous Monitoring" is not possible for us to monitor all of the activities that take place inside the premises of the provider, regardless of what we do. Instead, we need to provide them with continuous feedback on your discoveries and results, while also educating them on the short-term and long-term effects of the situation. Not only will it not improve the performance of suppliers, but it will also not create partnerships.

I say this "Continuous feedback". Whatever we do, we can not monitor every things inside the supplier premises. Instead we must keep giving them continuous feedback of your findings/results and educating them the (short and long term) impact. It will not develop relations as well as improve performance of supplier.
