1 Assess your hazards

Basado en mi experiencia en diferentes sectores y con distintos modelos de sistemas de seguridad. Conseguir el compromiso real de la dirección de la organizacion. Transmitir este compromiso a todos los niveles y contar con la participación de todos ellos. Establecer programas y acciones que estimulen la cultura preventiva como un factor irrenunciable (formacion, mejora continua, comunicación de incidentes...) Revisar los resultados de forma periódica. Recordar que es una carrera de fondo, un camino que no termina.

How to make a program last? In my view it is essential to start with management and supervisory commitment to the process. Then we do people communication and engagement. To ensure programs work, I would require the participation and involvement of the people. Engaging with people will also serve to inform them of the process, get their inputs and information and help them understand what is to follow. Once we have onboarded the people, we then do an initial hazard assessment or else I will not know where and what gaps are. A hazard assessment must include the physical and human components. Prioritise assessment findings, allocate resources, monitor and evaluate actual changes, successes, problem areas. Review and update.

2 Set your goals and policies

The next step is to define your goals and policies for workplace safety. Your goals should be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART). For example, you could aim to reduce the number of injuries by 10% in a year, or increase the compliance rate of safety training by 20% in six months. Sugiro utilizar nomes que "todos" os colaboradores entendam e se identifiquem.

Comunicación, comunicación y comunicación. De nada sirve tener un plan de seguridad si no somos capaces de comunicar con claridad y de forma habitual. Por el equipo tiene que fluir la información, sin ella no llegaremos al objetivo

Eu sou responsável pela seguran?a de um local? Seria um amuleto ou um anjo? Creio que esse princípio da pergunta já está errada. Seguran?a é um valor que deve ser compartilhado a responsabilidade entre todos da empresa. Caso contrário já está fadado a n?o funcionar. Qualquer programa deve ter esse princípio!

In my experience, a key point for a workplace safety program to lasts is that it must involve employees in the development and implementation of safety procedures and encourage them to report hazards and provide feedback on safety initiatives. Also, provide incentives to encourage safe behaviors and participation in safety initiatives will leads up to better and long lasting programs.

Let's break this down into four phases; 1- Phase 0: you need to understand the business and to learn and be curious about the operations, the culture, leadership principles, the stakeholders. Additionally building relationships by know your audience. 2- Phase 1: it's a time for a gap assessment and risk assessment to identify the gaps and main risks. You need also to benchmark internally and externally to avoid reinventing the wheel. 3- Phase 2: Based on the outcomes of Phase 1, develop a roadmap with an action plan to achieve your goals. Make sure to have a priority matrix based on the risk level. 4- Phase 3: Nail the plan by putting a robust mechanisms to ensure you are on the right track
