During a project for a media analytics platform, stakeholders were divided on the layout of a visualisation showing user engagement trends. Rather than making an immediate decision, I implemented A/B testing to measure user interactions with both designs—one focusing on a timeline graph & the other on a heat map. After testing, the heat map demonstrated a 25% higher user engagement rate due to its intuitive display of peak activity times. Presenting these results helped stakeholders understand which design better met user needs. A/B testing allows you to incorporate conflicting feedback iteratively, using real data to justify design choices, & creating a pathway to the most effective solution.

At Upsolve AI, we believe that there is no one single design that could make all stakeholders happy. The key is to find the one design that maximize the requirements coverage, and then on top of that, provide toolings that allow different stakeholders to customize their own dashboard version. At Upsolve AI, we enable this by building the "Personal Workspace" feature.

To navigate conflicting feedback on data visualization design, clarify goals and priorities by understanding each stakeholder's perspective. Use data-driven reasoning to explain design choices and how they meet objectives. Create iterative versions or prototypes to test suggestions and reach consensus.
