Breathing properly helps you to talk well and also calm your nerves. If you are using a microphone and you don’t breathe properly, your breath is going to echo in the microphone depicting fear and that may discourage you. Breathe as normal as possible even when you’re scared. When you breathe properly, you are able to overcome your fears and make a wonderful presentation.

I'm sure most of us would have heard the radio. Imagine a radio jockey telling you news or idea or anything at the same pitch. It would make the listener loose interest. Like the traditional news reading which used to happen during the 1940-50's. Thus in order to create an impact, voice modulation helps. Pause to give dramatic effect and get the attention, high pitch to emphasis, low pitch if there is something bad and normal to convey the message are some of the examples. For sure varying your pitch makes your presentation catchy (catchier). Very important to not underestimate this seemingly unimportant factor.

Make you sure you’re not shouting. When the volume of the microphone is too low, you amplify your voice to maintain a normal pitch and vice versa.

When you have a presentation to make, you voice is your biggest tool. Now, you need to analyse the location of the presentation, size of audience, and a million other factors that determine the level of voice that you need to maintain during your presentation. It helps you demand the attention of your audience. You have to suit the theme of your presentation too.

‘Speak from your chest’ - important to lower the voice delivery point from your mouth / throat to your chest level - feel the vibration and the gravitas it creates. And ‘throw’ the sound to bounce off the walls ???, don’t keep it just to yourself as if speaking into a little shell ??

Voice is the most important tool which determines the level of understanding and confidence you have in any given presentation, you can have all valid ideas and good points to deliver but if your voice is not loud enough or strong enough to capture the audience's attention that it gives an impression that you don't understand the points you presenting on.

Are you more of a modulated speaker or do you tend to focus on a solid tone and pitch throughout? Know the limitations and strengths of your voice and what you are comfortable in utilising. Voice and volume is not the only way we can engage our audience but it is important that they are able to hear us to consume the important information we are presenting.

Volume isn't a one-size-fits-all equation. It's about finding the sweet spot that resonates with your audience and the context of your message. Too soft, and you risk fading into the background, losing your audience's attention in the sea of noise. Too loud, and you risk overwhelming your listeners, drowning out your message in a cacophony of sound. So, how do you strike the right balance? It's all about reading the room, quite literally. Take a moment to gauge the size of your audience, the acoustics of the space, and the ambient noise level. Then, adjust your volume accordingly, using a louder voice to command attention in a large auditorium, or dialing it down to create an intimate atmosphere in a smaller setting.

The only way to control your pace is to prepare adequately and also know your audience. When you realize you’re speaking too fast, try and switch to a slower pace and vice versa.

I have found it very helpful to use emotions and space during any presentation, the use of space makes audience move along with you and that makes it hard for them to not pay attention to what you are saying, I have witnessed lot of presentations during my highschool days which had points presented that didn't make sense but because of the use of space and voice made it so hard to loose attention.

Presentations can and should be an emotive experience yet how you choose to portray emotion is up to you. Do you use your body language? Do you shift your pace? Do you gesture? Imagery? Music? However you choose to portray emotion - make it yours and take others on the journey with you.

An example I have witnessed regarding this example was when I was involved in a stage play in high school, the play was very successful because we had been trained to wear the character and live it on stage, by that means we had to be the person we imitating and show emotions to attract the audience's attention.

I've had to present a lot at Microsoft. ? The single most important lesson from my voice teacher was to "say your words." Slow down and feel them and actually pronounce your words well. People on remote calls thanked me for my annunciation. The second most important thing she taught me was to "take your breath." You can't hit the high notes if you don't take your breath. This was probably the most profound and instant impact. Before I learned to take my breath, directors would catch me in the hallway for a status rundown and I would fall flat and out of breath. When I learned to take my breath, it changed my presence and impact instantly on the spot. So while I practiced in the halls, the same idea carried over to my presentations.

Do not read from your slides! Remember: you know what you are talking about! Slides should be visual and engaging, not something to read verbatim from. I am not great at remembering numbers, so I make sure to put key graphs and data points to speak to, but the story I know. Knowing your story and telling it authentically will help your to adjust as needed based on response from your audience. That makes all the difference!

Everyone gets nervous before a big presentation. Preparation is key. Know your content and embrace the art of challenging yourself. You are there. You have something important to share and others want to hear it. How you choose to share that is up to you.

Confident about the topic: Just read everything about the topic which includes latest data, trends, industry norms, live examples. So that when you start discussing, you are able to convey your points effectively. The more you will have discussions and interactions, you will automatically become confident about the topic and things will be fine.
