Picking the right speakers and sessions for your event is like curating the coolest playlist for a party. First things first, know what vibe you want—inspirational talks, hands-on workshops, or maybe a mix of both? Choose speakers who know their stuff and can bring the energy.

The last thing you want is speakers competing against each other, or hurt egos running the show. Make sure that the speakers have areas of expertise that support and enhance each other.

Engagement is so powerful. Th human effect works. So, I have an ongoing content writing class for professionals. I created a WhatsApp group to make everyone comfortable. Before the sessions on Google Meet, I interact with them on the WhatsApp page. I use polls to understand what they feel about the class and gave a task that required them to state their expectations.

Constant engagement with the attendees, right from the beginning (reminder mails) until after the conference (feedback requests) is one of key factors for a successful event. Regular check-ins with the attendees on their needs during the event can go a long way in continuous support for future events.

Conversation never stops. It’s important to create interest before, during and after the event. The only way for your next conference to be a success is to evaluate this conference. Ask, ask, ask ( in person and via written evaluations) what attendees liked, what they didn’t like, what they would like in future conferences. Don’t be defensive if the responses are not totally favorable—pay attention to what the attendees are telling you, and try to deliver on those requests at your next conference. Sometimes the slightest change can make a huge difference! Once the conference is set, hype the event! Encourage people to attend, to bring a colleague, to register early, etc.

Don't stop listening after the applause! Turn feedback into fuel for your next event. Use surveys, post-event calls, and even social media analysis to understand what resonated and what fell flat. Did the networking opportunities spark connections? Did the keynote energize or leave attendees glazed over? Be your own toughest critic, dissect the data, and then get creative. Maybe next year's agenda needs a sprinkle of interactivity, or perhaps the venue lacked quiet corners for introverts to recharge. Iterate, experiment, and remember, the best conferences are living, breathing things that evolve with each edition. By embracing feedback, you'll build an event that leaves attendees not just satisfied, but begging for the next one.

To make sure your conference attendees have a great time, try to hand out cash and chocolates at the door. If possible, have attractive people welcoming people at the door, as well. A golden retriever will also go far.

One thing that I have found always works in an activity that involves movement. People need to loosen up and get their blood flowing. Even simple stretches can bring about a lot of laughter. Sure, some people may seem shy or a bit uncomfortable. Allow them not to participate. But even those people will enjoy the rise of positive energy. Try it!

Imagine you're throwing a party for the most important people in your life. How do you want them to feel? What do you want them to experience? How do you want to treat them? Everything from the timing to the agenda to the execution of your event should be thoughtful. If you can't afford multiple aspects, cut something to funnel more money into the most important aspect. Most importantly, make it worth someone's time.
