Invite them to your studio for a coffee. Simply that, come of a chat and coffee. They get to know you, and you can to know them, and can be a potential referral source for each other.

I love photography tiktok! I have connected with a lot of photographers on there, where we comment and like each others videos, but the support has also moved onto Instagram with them too! Showing genuine support rather than just commenting silly emojis is so valid. Ask questions, get their opinions etc.

Organising a photography meet-up can be a really fun way of networking with other photographers: pick a photogenic location and take landscape/architectural/street photos or portraits of each other. Bonus point if there is a coffee shop or pub nearby to finish the day around a drink!

Find photographers who you LOVE. Tell them you love their work and why. Don't connect to connect. Connect to make a real friendship!

Attending events and workshops is a great way to meet and network with people from the industry. You get to understand the stories and inspirations of different individuals all having a diffrent outlook from yours. The experience can help you find new creative ideas that uplift your own work

I tend to use my social media platforms such as Facebook, tiktok, instagram, viewbug etc This way it helps with worldwide exposure as well as connections for a lifetime

Definitely join photographic associations who hold conventions (where you're able to meet other photographers sharing both their failures and successes) as well as attending their seminars held by successful photographers related to your field of interest, never mind enabling one to stay on top of the latest and greatest that may enable you to streamline your workflow... Always Learn & Grow!

I organise monthly photography challenges with free entry + valuable prizes for the winner and runner-ups. Sometimes I also invite guest judges as well. This helped me to build genuine connections with many talented creators around the globe.

I know a lot of photographers I follow do photo challenges together. They'll pick a topic to shoot, that might be a specific product or genre, or a key word which you interpret, and create your own version. Then, they come together with their work and showcase their creation, providing CC etc.

I have a small group of people I know will always like/comment/share/message because I do with them - all genuine. It's good to have friends in the industry! They can help me during a shoot, or advise on editing techniques. Second eyes are good because you'll get so used to your own work, so getting another opinion is good as it's fresh to them. They might pick up on something you missed!

Create your own community around you: connect people with similar interests, share your ideas and your thought about other's ideas.

I believe that networking is priceless! I network with other photographers, videographers, and graphic designers all the time. I love meeting other artists at events that I attend, or when I'm out and about!

When I moved to my new location, I searched for local photography groups. Unfortunately there weren't any in my new location, so I made one! Wouldn't you know its grown substantially since it began? I make monthly events, offer advice and start conversations.

Do your homework. Do you have a professional society nearby such as ASMP, NANPA, APA, PP of A? All are easily found via Google. Attend a few of their events and bring your cards and questions. If you have the time, volunteer with any of these professional groups as each is run from the ground upward. Too far from any group? Look on-line for groups to participate.

I organise in-person creator meetups for the local creator community within my niche. It is great to see local + ex-pat creators coming together to have a great time, share their struggles, lessons learned, ask their questions and get instant help. Our creative path can be often lonely, but I like to provide a forum where the participants can realise they are not alone with their struggles and can rely on a supportive bunch of entrepreneurs in town.

I cannot stress how important this is. If you want people to support you as a photographer then it goes both ways. I have run small and large groups of photographers over the years and the groups that have had the strongest success have been the ones where the members have supported each other. The groups (and photographers for that matter) that failed the fastest were the ones where the only input was their own photos and they all expected everyone else to like and share their work. It simply doesn’t work like that.

Positivity can go a long way, especially for starters. Don't be afraid to be honest about where you are, your struggles to get there, and where you hope to go. Share your experience with others and give encouragement. People need support, and it doesn't cost much to say something nice.

Create opportunities for energetic, inquisitive beginner photographers who want to learn more onto sets to allow them to get some real-life action experience.

I've volunteered to photograph at some charity events which have led to opportunities meeting other photographers and networking. I treat each of them as a potential referral partner, and have built a good network of trusted photographers this way.

I am constantly trying new things and putting myself into difficult situations. Not because I am unaware, but because I want to learn and grow in my skills deeply and undeniably. Whether you seek education, experience, or a mix of both, continue pursuing your craft with new updates (so you don't burn out or become despondent).

Stay connected. Ask your fellow photographers if you can shadow them - gain perspective and stay inspired. Challenge yourself to step outside your comfort zone (i.e. If you only shoot photos try video, or start small and simply shoot in b/w if you’ve only ever shot in color etc.) Try a different style. Especially if you know you won’t enjoy it, there’s always something to be learned to apply to your own style that can only be found when you venture ?? Never lose sight of the passion, staying inspired is key. Staying connected with likeminded artists or simply surround yourself by art other than your own. The goal is to absorb & appreciate art outside your own. Expansion. Step into a photo gallery. Be safe. Hope this helps!

Beyond carrying on in experimenting on your own, which likely you were doing prior to becoming a 'real photographer', attend seminars, research, discover... there is and always will be more to learn... Then share because in the sharing you'll learn more!

Remember, the key to networking is offering value & maintaining authenticity in your interactions.

Building relationships with other photographers can involve attending industry events, joining online photography communities, and participating in workshops or photo walks. Networking helps exchange ideas, learn new techniques, and potentially collaborate on projects.

All this networking stuff seems very on-trend and agreeable but if you want a really good relationship with other photographers the best thing you can do is give them money or help out when they're in a mess. Here are the two things which count for more than coffee mornings and critique... That second one first then. You hear a fellow tog has Covid or that their child has been taken ill. You're free and can help...so offer help! Cover the job, give them some space. They won't forget that helping hand. Next, your marketing brings you a client and you're already booked that day - offer the client a qualified alternate photo option and your fellow tog a paid job. Helps the client and extra pay day for your network chum.

Show up for each other. Create a community of people who care for one another. Offer branding shoots for fellow photographers and get out there to support their work!

Share your own story and experience. Regardless if people don't care or if they spit hate, share for your own records. I wish I had been told this in the beginning. Like weight loss photos, witnessing your own transformation can be empowering and motivating.
