If there is expertise, then these people are intelligent and focused. Just like every other adult relationship you will have, communication is critical. Loop everyone in and explain that QC is mission essential. But first, this must happen....The bottom line is that you need to show your staff that you care more about their work/life balance more than the work. People have crises from time to time. You have a team, and if one member is in trouble, everyone else picks it up, including you. If you do that, they will go through walls for you. You must defend them from your AVP or any management above you that might pressure you through HR to reprimand or worse, terminate an employee.
