From my experience in plant operations, I have found that emotional intelligence is something you build through real-life experience, not just by reading about it. It’s about practicing self-discipline and staying calm under pressure to set a positive example for the team. Showing empathy helps in supporting and motivating everyone, while clear communication and good decision-making are key to resolving conflicts and boosting collaboration. Implementing these EI principles in everyday situations is what really makes a difference.

In the context of power plant operations, emotional intelligence plays a critical role in ensuring safe and efficient performance. The daily activities and experiences of power plant personnel significantly influence their emotional states. These emotions, whether positive or negative, can impact decision-making, communication, and overall operational efficiency. By being aware of how day-to-day experiences shape emotions, individuals can better manage stress, maintain focus, and foster a collaborative environment, ultimately leading to more effective and safe power plant operations.

The main thing is to be transparent with your people. If you want them to understand the situation on hand, we have to put them in your shoes. In order for that to be achieved, do not over exaggerate the issue, just be transparent and straight to point without compromising the facts and truth. This is enable your staffs or stakeholders to have trust and feel the situation on hand.

De lo contrario pone en riesgo la integridad física de sus compa?eros. Creo que la Operadora tendría que enviar a un profesional de la psicología cada 30 días para analizar la conducta de los operadores en dicho lugar de trabajo.

When somebody approaches you with feedbacks, suggestions or even criticism, always listen carefully on what they have to say first rather than going defensive or letting your ego get into the way.. Great ideas sometimes comes from a source you least expect. Therefore, always spend time listening to other people. Listening here means actually understanding and providing your insights as well instead of just nodding your head and moving on.

Create a safe space for all parties to express their views and emotions without fear of retribution. 6. Guide the conversation towards constructive solutions, encouraging input from all sides. 7. Check in with involved parties to ensure the solution is effective and to reinforce positive communication practices.
