Em minha experiência, o fotógrafo tem que estar com os conceitos de fotometria muito bem embasados. Mas, mais do que eu ditar uma "fórmula" para esse tipo de situa??o, é melhor o fotógrafo ser flexível e criativo o suficiente para lidar com qualquer condi??o de ilumina??o, inclusive afetando a composi??o.

A true professional knows how to “read” light. They can see the vision of how the photo will tuen out. This comes from years of perfecting your photography. It becomes second nature. I myself started as a skateboard photographer. Dealing with fast changes in location and lighting trained me to be adaptable. A true professional photographer also needs to have a solid foundation with strobes and flashes. Natural light is great but sometimes to achieve the desired look, you need to use strobes. You need the skills, knowledge, and experience to be adaptable to any circumstance!

Carrying an extra reflector, speedlight, umbrella or almost anything that you can use to adapt to poor lighting conditions can make a ton of difference. Quickly assess the direction of light and adapt. But ultimately as the photographer you need to take control of the choice of the new location. Client wants a photo taken in direct sunlight with squinting eyes because there is a scenic lake behind them? Say no- take them to where the light is best and advocate for the images.

2 Adapt Gear

Your lighting gear needs to be versatile. If you're using artificial lighting, such as flash or continuous lights, make sure they are easily adjustable. Portable battery packs can be lifesavers when you're away from power sources. Softboxes and umbrellas might need to be repositioned to counteract any harsh shadows caused by the midday sun. Making adjustments on the fly during a photoshoot is par for the course when it comes to photography, when you're outdoors those adjustments only get exemplified. One technique I using my environment when its very sunny out, is to have my subject stand underneath some shade at the edge of a shadow line, that way I can get an amazing natural fill from the light bouncing off the ground. This works really well with concrete and neutral colored materials. Remember to always use the rules of light in your favor instead of against!

4 Modify Technique

Your technique may also need adjustment. For instance, if you're now shooting against the light for a backlit effect, you'll need to overexpose the background or use fill flash to properly expose your subject. If the light has become flatter, you may want to adjust your camera settings, like aperture or ISO, to add depth or sharpness where needed.
