One thing I noticed at a recent seminar, were the “pop up” polls that happened. It kept your attention, gathered the survey information promptly, and ensured more audience participation before the event was over. This could be an important asset - most fly out after an event and will never contribute because of the risk to get home/work/ etc.

Agree with all of the above. I have organised several conferences and workshop sessions, all ending with feedback questionnaires which gave attendees an opportunity to express their views anonymously. These questionnaires were not requiring simple yes or no answers. They were open ended, designed to elicit detailed comments on specific aspects/contributions. They also included space for constructive comments and suggestions to improve the delivery.

Agree with the above. However monitoring on a regular basis is a job in itself. Unless you have appropriate funding for monitoring regular progress and impact on your clients/attendees, it can become a quantitative analysis and adds to piles of data which just gathers dust on your shelves. I would always prefer qualitative monitoring and data analysis to quantitative monitoring.
