One thing which might help is to jot down all the conflicting methods and go through 1. A rigorous review of those methods via previous literature. 2. Checking whether using those methods would actually be viable based on your research lab resources, funding and completion time. 3. Finding what is agreed by almost all and finding links to alternatives or other conflicting methods to that agreed upon methods, that way many methods which don't fit the agreed methods can be eliminated. Most important is the communication between the peers and supervisors( if any); a nice and clear conversation can really fast forward resolving these issues.
