1 Not having a clear goal

Before you attend any networking event, whether it's a conference, a workshop, or a social gathering, you should have a clear idea of what you want to achieve. Do you want to meet potential clients, mentors, or collaborators? Do you want to learn something new, share your expertise, or get feedback? Having a specific goal will help you focus your efforts and choose the right people to connect with. It will also help you craft your elevator pitch, which is a concise and compelling introduction of yourself and your work.

The common mistakes should be avoided : - Stop learning, stop listening to others, and learn more. - Stop asking, improve the current skills, and learn new groups of required skills. - choose the wrong network to connect to; the network of one side learns, which means only people who want to learn from you, but no one possible to learn from and improve yourself.

Take the time to build authentic relationships. I want to offer your help to others before asking for theirs. Get in touch with potential connections and ask how you can help them in their career journey. People are more likely to help you when they see your sincerity in building a relationship. While sharing your ideas is essential, remember to listen actively. Show genuine enthusiasm by asking questions about the other person’s interests and background. Don’t stick only to familiar faces. Networking is about expanding connections. Approach new people, facilitate introductions, and step outside your comfort zone. Minor breaks can help you regroup if you feel nervous or tired. Effective networking involves both giving and receiving.
