This is a description of how to operate remotely in a non-remote company. So the first question to answer is how remote is the company culture? If you work in a culture that has remote employees, but is still trying to replicate in-person processes and ways of getting things done, then these regular check-ins are essential. If, however, you work in a remote-first culture, then this suggestion is anti-productive. Remote-first cultures have a deep trust in their workers and people contribute during the time of day that makes sense for their life and timezone. Therefore, requiring ongoing check-ins would be counterproductive. This leads to the question: How can UXR thrive in a truly remote environment?
