To uphold trust and collaboration amid differing approaches: Acknowledge and respect diverse perspectives. Find common ground in shared goals. Facilitate open and honest dialogue. Encourage active listening and empathy. Create a clear plan outlining roles and responsibilities. Celebrate contributions from all sides equally. Address conflicts promptly with fairness and transparency. Foster a culture of mutual respect and shared ownership. Highlight the bigger purpose driving the collaboration. Lead with integrity to inspire trust and unity.

Social change and mission driven change are the most rewarding, meaningful programs or outcomes to design. Trust and collaboration are key and take time. Based on guiding principles, shared values, engagement, open dialogue, timely communication, and leadership. Some steps: 1. Honor mission driven gaps you want to solve together for an organization, firm, start up or community 2. Honor and recognize the "pearls" or skills each member brings to the project 3. Get to know stakeholders in initiative/project. Lean into local knowledge and the community/organization's "pearls." 4. Co Design horizontally in decision making and mutual respect 5. Challenge each other-- see strengths of each approach--Let the mission drive your team forward.
-
One thing that helps immensely is to keep a regular assessment of the approaches that suit a particular community and reworking on the approach/methods (adjusting the focus when needs evolve). Structured and time bound discussions and decision making.
-
In an environment of dignity, respecting different approaches and values naturally builds trust, becoming the bedrock for collaboration.
