In principle I agree with the prompt. I would step back one or two steps before undertaking the recommendations it contains. My first step would be to review the "strategic communications" documentation and communications that led to its adoption and efforts to implement in order to determine whether or not there had been mis-communications or other possible issues in its initial undertaking and adoption. This effort would then bring me to an understanding of when or if such issues had arisen at an earlier point in time. Determining if this had actually occurred would then provide a better starting point in the next steps. If this step did not identify any such issues then the recommendations in the prompt should be followed through

As noted in my previous response, my recommended first step would be to determine if misunderstanding had occurred at an even earlier point in time. Attaining this understanding would guide subsequent steps. The idea of accomplishing "what I want" in steering any conversation and result needs to be tempered with thoughts of "what has been determined to be the issue/challenge" otherwise it will likely lead to further deterioration and even more resistance. If the initial challenges identified in the prompt remain then it may be time to consider removing the "resistance" in order to go forward to achieve the needed goals.
