Targeting the right companies in a competitive job market requires strategy. I focus on researching niche companies for growth opportunities, leveraging LinkedIn to build genuine connections, and tailoring applications to highlight relevant skills. The piece that isn't mentioned is that you should target companies that meet with your "non-negotiables" - those things that you MUST have in a role/company for you to be successful and feel fulfilled. These non-negotiables can be anything from the option for hybrid/WTH flexibility, size/location of the company, products/services, revenue, industry, etc. Once you know what you're looking for - you'll be better positioned to find it.
