Revisions to a 3D project or model are inevitable. I think the most important part is to communicate clearly, I find that visual draw-overs of a render/screenshot along with a bullet point list is the best way to go about it. Make sure you you leave the interaction with the client knowing exactly what their expectations are, ask questions, make sure everything is clarified. Beyond that, sharing work in progress shots as you go is a good way to allow for easier pivoting to avoid large scale reworks. It can also help to get approval as you go in steps rather than save everything for the end. Get the model approved first, then the materials, lighting, renders, ect.

If possible, it is better to interact with a person from your professional field. This way, the interaction and direct execution of the work will be smoother

Make everything crystal clear about the revisions. Align your terminology with theirs to avoid confusion (mesh, vertices, shininess, etc.) Tell them the hurdle and your solution to overcome it. If you still have problems understanding, ask your client for a video call to discuss it together.
