You're a motivational speaker. How can you get people to follow you anywhere?

In my experience, knowing my "why" is essential for motivation, clarity, and resilience. Understanding the purpose behind my actions and goals provides a sense of direction and meaning, helping me stay focused and committed, even in the face of challenges. It guides decision-making, priorities, and allocation of resources, ensuring that my efforts are aligned with my values and long-term objectives. By knowing my "why," I can maintain enthusiasm, overcome obstacles, and ultimately, achieve fulfillment and success in both personal and professional endeavors.

Understanding your why takes time, some people never figure out their true why. Investing in a lot personal development programs, seminars, books will help. Reading, listening to podcasts, being genuinely curious. I realized that my goal is to help people not be so critical on themselves because I was so hard on myself even after all of the accomplishments and I realized I can make the most difference by dedicating my time to help people as not be so hard on themselves. This took me a long time and after spending a ton of money, energy, and effort in finding myself, I found out this is my legacy that I want to leave behind in the world.

Building your tribe will be the most rewarding endeavor you take on in your life. We as humans want to feel like we matter and belong. People will pay good money to find the things that brings them the most joy. You don’t know until you try everything. Being open to new possibilities and trying a lot of different hobbies will help you. If you are a great writer, try blogging, if you love editing videos then being a YouTuber. There are so many platforms right now if you are consistent, you will wake up one day surprised at the communities you’ve created. It’s so rewarding to see people come together and they become close friends afterwards thanks to you introducing them through the events you’ve put together.

Delivering value is easier said than done. The framework that I use, is this thing that I am able to say, would I pay for this advice? Showing people the steps it took for you to be able to solve xyz is helpful. For instance, if I wanted to show people how I was able to build a following of 18k on LinkedIn, I would reflect on what I did and number it. 1. Connect with all of your friends, classmates, basically anyone you’ve ever worked with 2. Always thinking about connecting people together. Ask people who they are looking to meet. 3. Write often, and document your journey. 4. Being vulnerable, not being afraid to fail and sometimes some of my posts get little engagement, but it’s okay sometimes you end up striking out. That’s life.

Consistency is the harder step out of all of these. But it’s okay to take a break every once in a while as well. When we are present to why we are doing it, it makes it that much easier. Instead of thinking, this is hassle. It’s more of, is this ultimately going to help someone even if it’s just one person? If yes, then I’m doing it. If there isn’t alignment with the content you are making and your true values then it’s easier to stop. Once I realized this is what I’m meant to do, it makes it that much easier to wake up in the morning because I’m clear on my legacy and what I want to leave behind in the world.

People always say what is the being behind it. Taking action and not being afraid to put yourself out there. Especially if it’s a polarizing topic. I realized that I have to stand for something and when that happened I started getting a lot more engagement because I was able to build true followers and I was able to contribute to my community. There were many times that I wrote content and random people would message me after I haven’t spoken with them in a while. I was addicted to the external validation but that is short lasting. Once you are grounded in your truth, then you don’t have to think much you are just simply exist and then just share what’s going on in your world.

I believe that all the points enumerated by AI are good, but of primary importance is demonstrating that what you do and what you say is authentic, transparent, as well as engaging. The audience needs to know who you are if they are going to follow you. Use personal stories so that they can get to know you. Show your vulnerability as well as your abilities. When others are exposed to your foibles, they will feel happy to follow you.
