With respect to Operational Quality Management I've used many tools to manage the team's quality effectively - 1. Histogram : At various instances Histogram has helped me to understand the overall process width with respect to the specifications and variation of target mean from the actual. To understand how my data is spread across LSL to USL. 2. Control charts: It helps us to understand how a process behaves over a period of time and figure out any outliers in the process. 3. Process capability Index (Cp-CpK) - Has helped me a lot to understand how close my team is performing with respect to the specifications given. 4. Ishikawa: Helps for RCA based on various sources (5Ms). 5. Pareto: Major noise causing zones are highlighted here.

The most important thing in managing a team's workflow is to understand the processes involved in the Workflow. It is best to view any work as a Process which may involve many interconnected steps. Process is some activity which converts inputs into desired outputs. Process Mapping is a tool which help visualize the entire work scope depicting the steps involved, their interconnectedness and dependencies, inputs, outputs and resources required to carry out the processes. In my view, other than deploying the Quality Management tools including 7 QC Tools and Lean Six Sigma Methodologies, the following needs to be incorporated in managing a team's workflow: 1. Set clear objectives, goals, expectations and timelines. 2. Provide adequate and necessary resources. 3. Make communication channels clear. 4. Create a culture transparency, openness and trust. 5. Set an effective review mechanism. 6. Provide timely and constructive feedback. 7. Remove worry and fear, particularly fear of failure. 8. Empower the team members. 9. Celebrate success.
