I like to prioritize based on risk similar to security controls which can relatively be rated as high, medium, or low risk. Obviously, high risks should be prioritized.

I agree that automatic patching typically frees up time. Similar to Always Availability groups, it helps ro be able to fail over to a passive node and patch that node, and after being sure the patch caused not adverse affect then fail the passive node as active and the former active node as passive and patch it. This is one HA method among a few other techniques
