Being adaptive because everyone is different is the first step. Being adaptive means not only having to communicate down the chain of command, but also up. To do this effectively, the communication must be clear, concise, and confident. When communicating to employees, using "I" statements is a great tool. "I feel confident when you take initiative to solve a problem because it shows your dedication to the team." When receiving communication, reflexive statements not only show you are listening, but it gives them a chance to be heard.
