Monitoring: We need to have a continuous monitoring mechanism to observe the pattern of the consumption of resources. 2. Scaling up/down: Based on the patterns from the above activity, we need to either scale up/down for that resource. Auto scaling features help in a very good way. 3. Reduce dependency on the service provider: Try to keep your applications less dependdent on the cloud service provider and try to keep them cloud agnostic. Because in case if you want to port your entire setup from one service provider to other in future, it should be smooth. These are few things that I learnt from my experience. There can be better approaches as well.
