You're an IT manager who needs to streamline collaboration. What cloud-based tools should you use?

For communication I would say Slack is the easiest one, as it is easy to navigate, search and transfer information using it. For calls it was easy to use Google Meets, and Teams.

I have experience working both in startups (with teams of 20 people) and large corporations with teams of over 1000 people. In my work, I always follow the principle "less software the better" when it comes to tools. 1. Jira - the platform is very flexible, with a large number of convenient dashboards and roadmaps. This is critical for me because I manage not only product processes but also lead my operational team for integration. I can track the status of any project with maximum details in one window. 2. Outlook/Zoom - for communication with team. 3. Miro - one of my favorite tools for projects visualization. 4. PowerPoint - convenient for creating presentations for business. I am always looking for new programs, so my list may change.

Most relevant then technology is how to lead. Unfortunately we are not "prepared". to deal with the situation that we are not looking for the person. Body language is a really important part of our interaction and additionally we could have situation where part of team is remote and part is on site. Then my recommendation is: Technology - Microsoft suite or G suite, both are great BUT: Prepare yourself to lead the collaboration: - Take care about people that is remote - Be aware parallel conversation if you are in a hybrid meeting (remote + on site) - Be aware of "mute" people and also talkative person, both are "disaster" - Take notes and share with all - all the time - Wrap up with all.

There is no wrong answer here if you consider the following when you choose the tech stack for your company. Take these into consideration on every tool. - Integration - Will it seamlessly integrate to your other tech stack? Consider going with one vendor like a Service Now, Atlassian, or other well known stack where their different modules can all integrate with one another? - Reportability - Can all your tools easily produce visibility and metrics to what is going on with a clear story on what is happening in your environment? - Scalability - are the tools you are using built to expand with the changing tech landscape? Will you be able to keep this stack around for a significant number of years? Plan accordingly for success!

Seamless collaboration in a virtual space can leverage multiple tools specific to the audience, nature of work, access, security etc... I primarily use teams and slack for collaboration within...we have used zoom and WhatsApp in collaborating with external global vendors.

I used a large number of tools: Trello, Asana, Gitlab, Miro. But at the moment my favorite is Jira. The platform allows you to track the progress of all teams in the company and set up individual filters and dashboards, which helps in planning

I used so many of them, starting from Trello, RedHat, Taiga, Notion, ClickUp, Asana, Jira and even boards in GitLab. I would probably say that Jira is one of the best, hard to set it up, but then easy to use. As it provides connection with Confluence and analytics that is convenient to read.

Durante um período eu conduzi projetos de médio porte e me deparei com uma situa??o onde ferramentas muito robustas tornavam a gest?o complexa, e ferramentas mais simples tornavam a gest?o muito precária, foi onde conheci o Microsoft Project For Web. Trata-se de uma excelente ferramenta para gerenciar projetos de médio porte, é intuitiva e fácil de usar. N?o possui a necessidade de cronogramas complexos e tem recursos para uma fácil gest?o visual.

Ja trabalhei com muitas ferramentas, principalmente com o Microsoft Project, Project Server e Project Online, já vi pessoas gerenciando usando, Excel, Project, Trello, Jira, Planner, Primavera, entre outros. Ferramenta é importante para facilitar alguns pontos, principalmente a colabora??o, mas n?o se esque?a da maturidade da equipe na metodologia adotada.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and recommend that if you're new to Project Management, you consider using Excel. It's not the end game, but a great start if you already have those skills. Use the tabs for different parts of the project. It's great to track project timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and so much more! I also think Trello is a good way to start using a drag/drop card-based tool. Very intuitive and a great introduction into several features you'll find in more advanced tools.

Sharepoint it is. Part of the MS Teams portfolio and rather the backbone of MS Teams. It's time tested for decades and a most powerful platform not only for document management, but also for intranet and team microsites. Good sharing features for inside and outside the organisation and works beautifully with MS Teams.

In my work I use two document management tools: Confluence and Google Drive. Confluence is our corporate knowledge base where we document processes and standards for working with different tools and systems. Google Drive is used to create documents, spreadsheets and presentations that we use in our work. This allows us to quickly and conveniently exchange information and collaborate on documents. We also use Google Drive to store and share files with clients and partners.

I was using Confluence- and i quite liked it. Google Drive- and also it was a good experience. Last project was fully in Notion, also not bad, but hard to copy paste in tables and it was very annoying.

My choice would be Google Drive in terms of traceability and accessibility. At the same time, it provides convenience as it can work integrated with almost all project management tools such as Jira.

For software development, tools like GitHub and GitLab are indispensable for version control and code collaboration, allowing teams to efficiently manage code changes, review code, and track issues. Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) such as Visual Studio Code or JetBrains IntelliJ IDEA provide powerful coding, debugging, and testing capabilities, enhancing developer productivity and code quality. Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools like Jenkins or CircleCI automate the software delivery process, enabling frequent and reliable code integration and deployment, which is critical for agile development and DevOps practices.

GitHub, GitHub, GitHub))) Especially considering its integration with JIRA, allowing you to organize your code review process in a very convenient way.

GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket. Why Use Them: For teams involved in software development, these tools provide version control, code collaboration, and continuous integration features. They are essential for tracking code changes, reviewing code, and managing multiple versions of a software project.

There is not much to say. Github, Gitlab and Visual Studio Code are the standards. Jenkins I know from software delivery automation and Postman for testing, there may be depending on the requirements other tools fitting better.

Keep the dev environments stardardised. Same plugins, etc - the formatting of the code and the insertion of headers and standard copyright notices. Get a script that can configure this. This way devs can start working on solving problems not remebering houekeeping tasks

Security is defined by the budget and the operating systems and visualization strategies used in a company. Monitoring should be per default cloud based, here Nagios I would recommend. Intrusion detection should maybe not just cloud based. Very complex topic, impossible to name THE tool for all hardware combinations and cases. Having Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto or whatever security devices means also that you can use the tools from the vendors, giving you most likely more information than third party tools. Security is a very wide topic going over all OSI layers over port security up to the application and access security level.

I use DUO as a MFA and that’s really a great tool. Even though the Microsoft Azure, integrated MFA it’s really good as well. I would recommend you in VPN like Citrix when access remote is needed.

I worked with different, but I found Teams is the most complete. There is always Zoom, Google meet, WebEx, but I think it all depends on what your needs are and how do you feel more comfortable using any collaboration tools. I also use Microsoft SharePoint, and I find really useful, even though I would like to have features like versions, control, or security on the documents.

I would anyway go for Microsoft Teams. The architecture and set up mimics real life - project based teams, function based teams, teams including external members... and so on. Fairly integrated ecosystem of collaboration tools and apps. Wins hands down.

Commercially, I consistently face the challenge of finding an alternative collaboration tool that justifies an additional spend and offers superior functionality compared to the Microsoft options.

There are multiple cloud based collaboration tools available: 1. Microsoft Teams /Webex Meetings: Cloud based collaboration tools for scheduling meetings. 2. Microsoft Project, Primavera P6 - Project Management tools. 3. One drive: storing and sharing common documents that will be accessed by multiple people in the team. 4. TeamViewer/Anydesk: for remote control and management. 5. Organization can also used a cloud based ERP solution that can have multiple modules to facilitate the operations of the organization. 6. ITSM tool: for managing the service desk tickets to resolve the issues that the end users are experiencing.

Erst mal einen Schritt zurück und evaluieren was will ich denn erreichen, was habe ich bereits im Unternehmen etabliert und l?uft gut, wo gibt es "Ecken und Kanten" die ich anpacken muss. Erst dann, wenn all diese Themen (organisatorisch und strategisch) gekl?rt sind kommt die Toolauswahl. Und wie gesagt. Es ist nur ein Werkzeug. Wie dieses zu nutzen ist und was die User dann daraus machen geh?rt definiert und gelebt.

What I’ve noticed as a service manager especially in larger organisations is the amount of software and tools used that all do a very similar task, so I’d highly suggest using a reduced portfolio of tools to do the tasks ahead, yes not every suite of tools is perfect but fitting the work around the tool is just as important and fitting the tool around the work, this will also lead to reduced costs in licensing and support and give you a higher operational rate, less downtime which leads to happier end users which is the ultimate goal.
