As a technical support intern, you'll need to have some basic technical skills that enable you to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve various issues related to hardware, software, network, and security. Depending on the specific role and company, these skills may include being familiar with common operating systems such as Windows, Linux, or MacOS; using and supporting applications such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or Adobe Creative Suite; setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting network devices; and understanding how to protect against and recover from security threats such as malware, phishing, or ransomware. You should also be able to perform basic tasks such as installing, updating, configuring, and repairing operating systems; understand how applications interact with the operating system and other programs; use tools such as ping, traceroute, or ipconfig to test network connectivity and performance; and employ antivirus software, encryption, backups, or firewall rules to protect against security threats.
